Buster Sonic (Japanese: バスターソニック Basutā Sonikku) is the 4th series of 'Sonic' Fully Cowled Mini 4WD line. Buster Sonic is one of the machines owned by Retsu Seiba, which acts as a final upgrade for Retsu during Bakusō Kyōdai Let's & Go!! WGP.

Bakusō Kyōdai Let's & Go!! WGP[]

With Hurricane Sonic being overshadowed by Go's Beat Magnum and a looming threat of TRF Victorys' failure to qualify for the final stage of the World Grand Prix, Retsu's growing anxiety leads him to overexerting his machine during a race against Odins. This results in Hurricane Sonic falling off an icy mountain track and Retsu himself breaking his ankle trying to recover it. Retsu designs the Buster Sonic when he is hospitalized, hoping to catch up with his team mates. It debuts in episode 45 of the WGP arc, and it is used for the rest of anime.

In the manga version of Bakusō Kyōdai Let's & Go!! MAX, the machine is eventually be replaced by its successor, Blitzer Sonic, which is an Aero car with Super X chassis, much like almost every other car in the show.

Characteristics[]

Buster Sonic had the body shape with half covered large diameter tires and wide spoiler. The color of the car's body plate is white, with the signature red and green of Sonic cars decorating the machine, and it features a new headlight design.

Inverting Beat Magnum's design, Buster Sonic is equipped with a pair of visible suspensions in the front of the car. These piston-looking devices can move up and down to adjust wheel base front ride height. When the piston is active, the front body is lowered and the front tires are pushed backward. This tremendously increases the car's grip during high speed corners while retain high speed out them when the pistons deactivate themselves. This technique is later named as Buster Turn.

Other Appearances[]

Bakusō Kyōdai Let's & Go!! Eternal Wings[]

The Buster Sonic is Retsu's default car in the Eternal Wings video game, and it is the car he uses in the story mode.

In the game, Buster Sonic had a maximum direction cornering, avarage rotation, average brake, so have an easier controlling than other, average speed and average braking.

The Buster Turn, as depicted in game, causes the car to be covered by a flaming firebird; Fire Stinger also uses the same firebird.

Special Moves[]

  • Buster Turn

Alternatively known as Buster Down, Buster Turn utilizes front suspension movement to adjust the machine's wheelbase and aerodynamic flow. During cornering, the suspensions move down, pushing the front wheels backward and the cowl downward, effectively shortening the wheelbase and front ride height. This allows Buster Sonic to take corner with extremely high grip traction. During straight line, the suspensions relieve themselves, resetting the car's balance and expand its max speed.

  • Buster Phoenix Turn

Exclusive to Bakusō Kyōdai Let's & Go!! Eternal Wings, the Buster Turn produces a phoenix-shaped fire effect that enhances the machine's speed like other boosts.
